"I'm really glad I went with the guided tour for this. Our guide, Uma, was so knowledgeable and pleasant. This was my first guided tour as opposed to audio tours and I definitely want to do more in the future. Having a person who knows a lot about the history and context of a place makes the experience even richer so if you've travelled to see these sights, I highly recommend a guide."

How the Casa Milà Early-Morning Tour Works
Four steps from Passeig de Gràcia to Gaudí's rooftop chimney sculptures.
Meet at Passeig de Gràcia, 92
Arrive 15 minutes before your slot at the Casa Milà entrance on Passeig de Gràcia. Your guide checks you in, hands out an audio receiver, and walks you past the queues before the building opens.
Inside the Modernist Apartment
Enter the bourgeois apartment recreated to 1910 — original Jujol mouldings, wave-curved doors, and the catenary arches Gaudí used instead of straight load-bearing walls.
Up to the Espai Gaudí Attic
Climb to the parabolic-arch attic — 270 brick catenary ribs forming what Gaudí called a 'forest of brick' — now the Espai Gaudí museum of his architectural method.
Rooftop Chimney Sculptures
Finish on the wave-stone rooftop terrace — Jujol's warrior-helmet chimneys (the ones George Lucas reportedly used as Star Wars stormtrooper inspiration) — with morning views over Passeig de Gràcia.

What Our Guests Say
"Una the guide was passionate and knowledgeable about the whole building and clearly enjoyed passing on that knowledge and many other aspects of a truly remarkable building."
"The early morning tour is definitely worth it. We get to see the sunrise over La Casa Mila. Gemma was an excellent guide. She had a lot of information and fielded questions from the group. It was interesting to see one of the residences, as it was in the early 1900s. I would definitely recommend this tour, especially with Gemma. ¡Muchas Gracias!"

"If you're interested in Gaudi, these early morning tours are absolutely the way to go. We had six people on our tour and all the groups were separated so we got a really good view of everything. The guide was great."

Casa Milà Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before booking the early-morning Casa Milà guided tour.
The tour starts from $46 per person. This includes Casa Milà admission with early-morning access (before public hours), a 1.5-hour expert-led guided walk through the modernist apartment, the Espai Gaudí attic museum, and the rooftop chimney terrace, plus an audio receiver so you always hear the guide clearly. There are no additional fees at the door.
Your ticket includes: early-morning Casa Milà admission (before the building opens to the public, so you walk near-empty rooms), an English- or Spanish-speaking expert guide, an audio receiver, full access to the four visitable areas (modernist apartment, Espai Gaudí parabolic-arch attic, rooftop chimney terrace, and the patios), and the right to stay inside after public opening if you wish.
They're the same building. 'Casa Milà' is the official name — it was commissioned by Pere Milà and his wife Roser Segimon in 1906 and finished in 1912. 'La Pedrera' (Catalan for 'the stone quarry') is the nickname Barcelona locals gave the building because of its rough, undulating limestone facade. UNESCO listed it in 1984 as part of the Works of Antoni Gaudí.
Casa Milà gets crowded fast — a typical midday slot has hundreds of visitors moving through the apartment and attic at the same time, with queues at the rooftop staircase. The early-morning tour gets you in before public opening: quieter rooms, no waiting at the rooftop chimney sculptures, and morning light through Jujol's wrought-iron balconies that you simply can't get later in the day.
Twenty-eight chimneys and ventilation towers that Gaudí treated as sculpture — the most famous being the twisted-helmet 'warrior' chimneys that George Lucas reportedly used as the visual inspiration for the Star Wars stormtroopers. The wave-stone rooftop floor curves up and down across two levels, and the views over Passeig de Gràcia toward the Mediterranean are some of the best in central Barcelona.
The Espai Gaudí is a museum installed in Casa Milà's attic, designed by Gaudí himself as 270 brick catenary arches — what he called a 'forest of brick.' It's both a structural masterpiece (the parabolic arches transfer the rooftop's weight to the load-bearing walls without internal columns) and a museum of Gaudí's architectural method, with models, drawings, and his Park Güell and Sagrada Família designs.
The guided portion runs about 1.5 hours. After the tour, you're welcome to stay inside the building as long as you like during public hours — many guests linger for another 30–60 minutes on the rooftop or in the Espai Gaudí attic.
Casa Milà is at Passeig de Gràcia 92, on the corner of Carrer de Provença, in Barcelona's Eixample district. The nearest metro is Diagonal (Lines 3 and 5), one block away. From Plaça de Catalunya, it's a 12-minute walk straight up Passeig de Gràcia. You'll pass Casa Batlló — Gaudí's other Passeig de Gràcia building — on the way.
Casa Milà is open year-round. The early-morning slot is most rewarding in spring (April–June) and autumn (September–October) when the morning light is soft and the rooftop is comfortable. Summer mornings (July–August) are already warm by 9am, so the tour finishes before the heat. Winter mornings are quiet but the rooftop can be cold and windy — bring a layer.
The modernist apartment and patios are step-free via elevator. The Espai Gaudí attic and the rooftop terrace are reached by a staircase that has limited wheelchair access — check with the operator at booking if mobility is a concern. Strollers are best left at the entrance for the rooftop portion.
Comfortable walking shoes — the rooftop's wave-stone floor undulates and is uneven in places. Sun-shade in summer (sunglasses, hat). A light layer year-round, because the attic stays cool. The dress code is casual.
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour start time, for a full refund. After that window the booking is non-refundable. Date changes are sometimes possible if you contact the operator promptly — check the booking confirmation for exact terms.
Yes. Casa Batlló is a 10-minute walk south down Passeig de Gràcia (same morning, easily combinable). Park Güell is a 20-minute metro + walk away and is best done as a separate half-day — both Casa Milà and Park Güell deserve unhurried time. Sagrada Família is the third Gaudí must-see and a 25-minute walk or short metro ride east.
